The Effect of Self-Esteem among Those with Breast Cancer on Parenting Stress, Daily Stress and Stress Coping Strategy

Abstract
The study is to find out how self-esteem among those with breast cancer influences on their child rearing stress, daily stress, and stress coping strategy. In addition, the study also aims to discover how the characteristics of medical care and treatment conditions affect on self-esteem, child rearing stress, daily stress and stress coping strategy. The results show that first, self-esteem among those with breast cancer has a statistically significant relationship with child rearing stress, daily stress and stress coping strategy. Second, self esteem is related to child rearing stress in the first and the third stage according to the medical care characteristics among breast cancerpatients. The relationship between self esteem and daily stress is found among those with breast cancer in the stage 0, 1, 2, 3 and recovery. Particularly, the effect of self esteem on stress coping strategy is revealed among those in the first stage of breast cancer. Lastly, regardless of the treatment condition- whether hospitalized or not- self esteem has a statistically significant influence on child rearing stress, daily stress and stress coping strategy.
